Youth Strategy Fund

The Youth Strategy Fund of the SADC Chibougamau-Chapais is a loan granted to individuals aged 18 to 39.

The objective of this fund is to encourage young people to acquire, start, or expand businesses, thereby enhancing their employability. In doing so, the community benefits from a younger population that chooses to remain in the region.

Eligibility Criteria* :

  • The project is carried out within the territory served by the SADC Chibougamau-Chapais;
  • The applicant must be between 18 and 39 years old and must hold a majority ownership in the business;
  • The project must fall within a field of activity that aligns with the development priorities identified by the community;
  • The project creates new jobs or helps maintain existing ones;
  • The project demonstrates strong potential and reasonable viability.

Technical and Financial Support* :

The applicant is granted a loan, secured by a personal guarantee, of up to $10,000 for a maximum term of 5 years. An interest-free period of 24 months is offered, along with the possibility of a capital repayment deferral for the same duration. A maximum of two applicants from the same business may benefit from this personal loan.

During the period in which the SADC invests funds, it provides ongoing monitoring and technical support to the assisted business.

Exception

Businesses of a religious, sexual, or political nature are not eligible. Additionally, based on market analysis, trucking companies and restaurants are not eligible for start-up funding.
