Chibougamau, December 5, 2024 – The SADC Chibougamau-Chapais, in partnership with the SADC Abitibi-Ouest, the SADC Barraute-Senneterre-Quévillon, and the SADC Matagami, is launching the Jamesien Circular Economy Fund to stimulate circular economy initiatives in Nord-du-Québec.
Through the Jamesien Circular Economy Fund, established with the financial support of the Société du Plan Nord, Jamesien businesses wishing to initiate or continue the implementation of a circular economy project may receive assistance of up to $10,000.
The Fund includes two (2) components: one for studies and consulting services, and another for equipment acquisition.
Projects must be related to at least one of the 12 circular economy strategies:
- Éco-design
- Responsible consumption and procurement
- Operations optimization
- Collaborative economy
- Short-term rental
- Maintenance and repair
- Donation and resale
- Refurbishment
- Product-as-a-service (functional economy)
- Industrial ecology
- Recycling and composting
- Recovery and valorization
Applications must be submitted during project calls scheduled through March 31, 2028. The first call ends on December 31 of this year.

The terms and conditions of each of the two components and the application form are available on the websites of the SADC of Nord-du-Québec : the SADC Abitibi-Ouest, the SADC Barraute-Senneterre-Quévillon, the SADC Chibougamau-Chapais and the SADC de Matagami.
The Société du Plan Nord is contributing $520,000 to the Jamesien Circular Economy Fund. This financial support is part of the Government of Quebec’s 2023–2028 Northern Action Plan.

The SADC’s mission is to encourage the Chibougamau-Chapais community to take charge of its future. It helps launch new, dynamic businesses and supports the development of existing ones by enabling the consolidation or expansion of their services through technical and financial assistance.
